Topic: Sunday Morning Teaching Passage: 1 Thessalonians 2:17–20, 1 Thessalonians 3:1–13
What can we learn about the ideal heart of a pastor from Paul's words here in 1 Thessalonians 2–3? Join us this Sunday at CrossWinds Church in Spencer as we consider the answer.
Sermon Discussion
- What is one takeaway from the sermon and one question that you had after hearing the sermon?
- Read 1 Thessalonians 2:17–18; 2 Timothy 2:26. What (who) has prevented Paul from returning to Thessalonica? What does this teach us about those who are opposed to the gospel? How should we respond to this spiritual opposition?
- Read 1 Thessalonians 2:19–20. Here Paul says his joy is connected to the spiritual progress of the Thessalonians. Who are some people that you find have a similar mindset toward you? What would it look like for you to have this same approach to joy as Paul does here?
- Read 1 Thessalonians 3:1–4; cf. Matthew 13:20–21. Why does Paul send Timothy to Thessalonica?
- Read 1 Thessalonians 3:5. What might it look like for you to have a “fatherly concern” for the perseverance of others?
- Read 1 Thessalonians 3:8–13. What does Paul pray for in these two prayers? What can you learn from them and begin applying to your own prayers?
- This Time Tomorrow: How does this passage transform your thoughts, actions, or interactions at this time tomorrow?
