  1. What is something you have learned from observing and imitating others?
  2. What is one highlight from the sermon and one question that you had after hearing the sermon?
  3. Read 2 Timothy 4:1–5. What is the “charge” Paul gives to Timothy. How would you feel if you were in Timothy’s position and received this charge?
  4. Read 2 Timothy 4:6. Drink offerings didn’t take away sin but were meant as an expression of gratitude and devotion to God. When Paul refers to his life as a drink offering, what does he mean?
  5. Read Romans 12:1. What are some ways that you can follow Paul’s example and life a life of sacrificial devotion to Jesus?
  6. Read 2 Timothy 4:7. How do you think it would it feel to reach the end of life and be able to say what Paul says here? What would it look like for you to give the remainder of your life to “the only race worth running”?
  7. Read 2 Timothy 4:8. With death fast approaching, is Paul nervous about what is to come? How would you describe his view of the future?
  8. Would you say that you “have loved his appearing” (i.e., long for the return of Jesus)? What would it look like for you to increasingly long for his return?
  9. What are some ways that you can pass the baton to the next generation?
