What do we need to learn about the incredible mercy of God? Join us this Sunday at CrossWinds Church in Spencer as we consider the answer from 2 Samuel 12.

1. What comes to mind when you think of “mercy”? In what ways is God’s mercy sometimes “severe”? How is this different than what we normally think of when we think of mercy?

3. Read 2 Samuel 12:1. Why is it important that God sends Nathan to David when David is mired in sin? How is this an act of mercy?
4. Read 2 Samuel 12:9–10. What does it mean to “despise” the Lord? How does David do so here? In what ways to our actions make a statement about God’s glory?
5. Read 2 Samuel 12:13; Psalm 51:1–3, 9–12. What is the connection between confession and mercy?
6. Read 2 Samuel 12:15–23; Jonah 3:4–5, 9–10. Why does David cry out for more mercy even though God has pronounced his judgment? How does this reveal David’s understanding of God’s character? What does it mean for us today?
