A REBELLIOUS PEOPLE
Use the following thoughts and questions to have a spiritual conversation as a family. Don’t emphasize having the right answer, but focus on spending time discussing the Word as a family.
SCRIPTURE
Numbers 13:1-3, 27-33; 14:1-10
SESSION SUMMARY
In this week’s session, we looked at the story in which Moses sent twelve spies to scout out the promised land in Numbers 13-14. Ten of the twelve spies came back with a bad report and persuaded the people not to trust God and take the land. Here are some of the main things we learned from the story:
- We sin when we forget God’s promises (Num. 13:1-3, 27-33).
- We sin when we forget God’s goodness (Num. 14:1-4).
- We sin when we forget God’s presence (Num. 14:5-10).
CONVERSATION QUESTIONS
• What do we need to do to remember God’s word each day?
• How has God shown His goodness to our family?
• What might we do differently or more courageously if we knew God is with us?
FAMILY CHALLENGE
Moses sent the spies to scout the land and bring back a report. Send each family member out this week to spy out opportunities to make a difference in your community. Sometimes we miss opportunities to make a difference in our communities because we simply aren’t looking for them. Intentionally seek out ways to get involved in your neighborhood, school, community, ect. to shine the light of Jesus wherever He has placed you.
