Repentance Leading to Revival

Why is repentance an essential part of revival? Join us this Sunday at CrossWinds Church in Spencer as we consider the answer from Acts 19.

Discussion Questions for Life Groups, Families, and Personal Reflection

1. Read Psalm 85:4–7. What is “revival”? Why is it something that we should long for as followers of Jesus? Have you ever seen or experienced it? What do you think it would look like to experience revival today?
2. What is one takeaway you have from this passage? What will you do with that this week? What is a question you still have after studying this passage?
3. Read Acts 19:13–16. In our sermon, we saw that the sons of Sceva were not just “in over their heads” but were “trivializing” things that should not be “trivialized.” What are some ways that our culture “trivializes” important things today?
4. Read Ephesians 6:10–13; 1 John 4:4. Why is it important to remember that we are spiritual beings in a “spiritual battle”? What are some ways that you can remind yourself of that? How do these two additional passages provide comfort in spiritual battles?
5. Read Acts 19:17–19. Do you find it surprising that professing Christians were still practicing magic? What does their financial sacrifice show about their priorities?
6. What are some ways that Christians today can be like the Ephesian Christians: following Jesus but blind to an area of sin because of their culture?
7. What are some ways that we can grow in our awareness of God and of self? Discuss the four areas mentioned at the end of our sermon. Are there things that God is bringing to light for you?
8. Read Ephesians 3:14–21. In this sermon, Paul prays that the Ephesian church would know the reality of God’s love, something that they already knew. The implication is that they would not just know God’s love intellectually but experience it in their hearts. Spend time praying this passage for one another.
