No Burden But Love

Speaker: Jordan Gowing Series: Acts Topic: Sunday Morning Teaching Passage: Acts 15:22–33

What does love look like in the local church? Join us this Sunday at CrossWinds Church in Spencer as we consider the call to love others in Acts 15.

Sermon Discussion

  1. What is “relational decay”? How are relationships harder with people in larger groups or when at further distances? What are some ways to mitigate these challenges?
  2. What is one takeaway you have from this passage? What will you do with that this week? What is a question you still have after studying this passage?
  3. Read Acts 15:1–5. Review the context of the Jerusalem Council. What is the problem being addressed here? What is the conclusion of the council based off the three testimonies of vv. 6–21?
  4. Read Acts 15:23. What is the significance of the Jerusalem Council referring to the Antioch church as their “brothers”? What are some ways that we can remind ourselves and others of our familial relationships in Christ?
  5. Read Acts 15:24–27. What is significant about these verses when it comes to decision-making today? Like the Jerusalem Council we already have “divine revelation” and do not need direct guidance. What does this mean for today when you are making decisions?
  6. Read Acts 15:28–29. What are the three implications of these verses? Which one stands out to you most?
  7. Read Romans 12:9–21; 1 Corinthians 13. What do these two passages teach us about love in the church?
  8. Read Acts 15:1, 33. What is the result of the Jerusalem Council?
  9. This Time Tomorrow: How does this passage transform your thoughts, actions, or interactions at “this time tomorrow”?
