The Conversion of Peter to the Mission of God

Speaker: Jordan Gowing Series: Acts Topic: Sunday Morning Teaching Passage: Acts 10:1–33

The story of Cornelius's conversion is one of the most important passages in the Bible, with its story being told three times (Acts 10, 11, 15). But before we can get to Cornelius's conversion, we have to see a change that takes place in the Apostle Peter. What is it? Join us this Sunday at CrossWinds Church in Spencer as we consider the answer from Acts 10.

Sermon Discussion

  1. Read Ephesians 3:6. Imagine being a first-century Jew and hearing these words? Would it be hard to understand? Why is this passage in Acts 10 so important?
  2. What is one takeaway you have from this passage? What will you do with that this week? What is a question you still have after studying this passage?
  3. Read Acts 10:1–2. Describe Cornelius. What is he like? How is he different than anyone else who has received the gospel so far in the book of Acts?
  4. Read Acts 9:43; Jonah 1:3. What is the significance of Peter staying in Joppa? What are some of the similarities between Peter and Jonah? What are the differences? What is God trying to teach us through this connection?
  5. Read Acts 10:17–20. Describe the divine timing of these verses. How is God at work to get the gospel to Gentiles?
  6. This Time Tomorrow: How does this passage transform your thoughts, actions, or interactions at “this time tomorrow”?
