The God Who is There

What does the conversion of Paul teach us about how God brings people to faith? Join us this Sunday at CrossWinds Church in Spencer as we consider the answer from Acts 9.

1. In your own words, how would you define “conversion”?
2. What is one takeaway you have from this passage? What is a question you still have after studying this passage?
3. Review the three components of conversion from this passage. What are they? How do you see them in your own story of coming to faith in Jesus?
4. Read Acts 9:3–5; Philippians 3:4–6. In these verses, we see Saul encounter the true God. How is the “God who is there” different than his preconceived notion of God?
5. What are some preconceived notions of God that are common today? How are they different than the God of the Bible? As you think of your own conversion, what preconceived notions of God were corrected?
6. Read Acts 9:8–9; 26:14–15. Take some time to discuss what those three days of blindness and fasting were like for Saul. How did God change his understanding of God? How did God convict him during these days?
7. Read Romans 7:7–11. What do these verses tell us about Saul’s conversion? How did God use his Word to convict Saul of his sin? As you think of your own conversion, how did God convict you of your sin?
8. Read Acts 9:10–16. How did Ananias respond to God’s command to go to Saul? What can we learn from Ananias here?
9. Read Acts 9:17–19. How is Saul welcomed into God’s family? Discuss the beauty of this welcome.
