How does the church flourish and grow? Join us this Sunday at CrossWinds Church in Spencer as we consider the answer from Acts 6.
Sermon Discussion
- In our sermon, we talked about the importance of not just having “gospel orthodoxy” but also “gospel culture.” How would you define “gospel culture”? Why is it essential?
- What is one takeaway from this passage and one question that you had after studying this passage?
- Read Acts 6:1. What is the danger facing the church here?
- Read Acts 6:2–4. Rather than “trying harder,” the apostles decide to delegate responsibility so they can focus on their unique calling. What are the qualifications for this new leadership role in the church? What does it allow the apostles to focus on? What can we learn from the apostles here?
- Read Acts 6:1–2, 4; 1 Peter 4:10–11. In our sermon, we saw that the word for “distribution” (verse 1) and “serve tables” (verse 2) is the same word as “ministry” (verse 3). What is the significance of this parallel? How does this highlight the value of the Word and of works in gospel ministry?
- Read Romans 12:3–8. Have you ever considered what your calling into ministry might be? How has God called you to contribute to ministry in the church? What can we learn from this passage?
- Read Romans 12:9–21. How do these verses “heart” behind ministry? What can you learn from them?
- This Time Tomorrow: How does this passage transform your thoughts, actions, or interactions at “this time tomorrow”?
