Reaching People with Jesus

October 24, 2021 Speaker: Jordan Gowing Series: Vision | Reaching People with Jesus

Topic: Sunday Morning Teaching Passage: John 15:1–7, Luke 15:1–10

What does it look like for us to be on mission? Join us this Sunday at CrossWinds Church in Spencer as we consider our mission statement and how we might begin to live this mission out in our community and across the globe.

Sermon Discussion Questions

  1. Would you say that you are “on mission” with Jesus? Why or why not? What does this look like?
  2. What is one highlight from the sermon and one question that you had after hearing the sermon?
  3. Our sermon listed three ways that “with” is crucial to our mission. What are they? Which one stuck with you most? What are some ways that we can be “with” Jesus both individually and corporately?
  4. Our sermon listed three reasons we are “on mission” (reach). What are they? Which one stuck with you most?
  5. Read Luke 15:1–10. Why does Jesus give us the three parables that he does in Luke 15? Using just one sentence, how would you describe Jesus’s heart from Luke 15:3–7. From Luke 15:8–10?
  6. Read Luke 15:11–32. This parable is unique in that there are three main characters (almost all of Jesus’s parables only have one). What does this parable reveal to us about (1) the father, (2) the younger son, and (3) the older son?
  7. It is easy to see the ways the two sons are different; what are some ways they are similar?
  8. Re-read Luke 15:1–2, 25–32. What is Jesus’s warning for religious people? In what ways do you see this tendency in your own heart?
  9. Read Jonah 3:10–4:3; 2 Kings 5:1–3. Compare Jonah and the slave girl. What can we learn from the two of them?
  10. 10.This Time Tomorrow: Are you on mission with Jesus? How does this passage transform your thoughts, actions, or interactions at this time tomorrow
