1. What does it mean to be a people pleaser? What are some ways to fight against this tendency? What does it mean to be “approved by God”? How does this look different than people pleasing?
2. What is one highlight from the sermon and one question that you had after hearing the sermon?
3. Read 2 Timothy 2:14–15. What does Paul have in mind when he says “remind them of these things”? In what way is this essential for living a life pleasing to God? What does Paul contrast this focus with in this verse?
4. Read 2 Timothy 2:16–18. What are some examples of “irreverent babble” or “useless discussions”? Why do these spread more quickly than the truth? Why is the image Paul uses in these verses an appropriate one for the danger of useless discussions?
