November 26, 2017 Speaker: Jordan Gowing Series: Colossians | All About Jesus

Topic: Sunday Morning Teaching Passage: Colossians 3:5–11

Are there things in your life that don't line up with your new identity in Christ? Join us this Sunday at CrossWinds Church in Spencer as we look at the charge to "put to death" the old nature within each of us.

Sermon Discussion Questions

  1. Review Colossians 3:1–4. What does it mean to set your mind on things that are above? In your experience, what are some of the things that help you set your mind on things that are above instead of earthly things? What can you do to increase this influence on your life? (See Philippians 4:8; Proverbs 4:23.)
  2. Read Colossians 3:5-6. How would you help a young Christian understand the importance of sexual purity? See also 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 1 Corinthians 6:9, 13.
  3. What is covetousness? In what ways is covetousness related to the other vices listed in verse 5? In what ways is covetousness more dangerous for evangelicals today?
  4. Read Colossians 3:8. How would you help a young Christian understand the importance of handling anger? See also James 1:19-20; Ephesians 4:26, 31.
  5. What is the role of the church in helping us live as Paul encourages us to live in Colossians 3:5-11?
