The gospel simply means "good news." But what is this good news? Take a look below.
God created us, and he loves us. From the very beginning, God intended for us to know him and have a relationship with him. God also loves us very much, as we see throughout the Bible. (John 3:16)
As humans we have failed to live up to God's standard. Every one of us has sinned and therefore is considered unholy by a holy God. (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23a)
Jesus came to take our punishment for our sins, and he came to restore our relationship with God. Without Jesus, there would be no way for us to be in a relationship with God. Jesus paid the punishment for our sins when he died on the cross. (Romans 5:8, John 14:6)
The Bible tells us that we are saved by believing in Jesus and the salvation he provides through his work on the cross. By trusting that Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross takes away our sins, we are able to know God and have eternal life through Jesus. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:10)
